SummerSound Clients
Helping clients use technology to achieve their business and communications objectives.
David Summer, at SummerSound, provides web development, marketing and technical communications services to companies and individuals.
SummerSound specializes in website development, creating eLearning instructional materials, podcast setup and other multimedia web development.
David has been fortunate to be instrumental in helping a number of diverse clients with their business and communications objectives.
GlassHouse Technologies
As a Technical Consultant for
GlassHouse Technologies, an IT and data storage company, David has been responsible for developing documentation and multimedia training materials for employees.
These learning tools enabled the integration of Clearspace enterprise collaboration software into the Glass House office environment.
This software integrates common web communication methods including Wikis, Discussions and Blogs, as well as document sharing and revision control.
The written documentation created by David consisted of User Guides and Style Guides that showed software managers and overall users how to setup and configure the software.
David also created a series of eLearning video tutorials explaining how to use the features available in the Clearspace collaboration software.
See the
SummerSound technologies page for a sample of these eLearning tutorials.
Energy Federation Incorporated
David consulted with
Energy Federation Incorporated, a company specializing in selling energy related products, concerning their communications needs.
The head of the consumer division at Energy Federation expressed an interest in communicating business information and energy saving tips using an RSS enabled newsletter.
David designed and developed a dynamic newsletter section for the Energy Federation company website.
In addition to the design and page development work, he also implemented the RSS feed needed to add content to newsreader aggregators.
The Ed Mascari Piano Studio
Ed Mascari is an experienced piano teacher and performer who has had a
business website for many years.
He was happy with the overall graphical design of his website,
but wanted to reinvigorate and add to the content as well as preset the material in a way that would attract more visitors.
David has partnered with Ed in rewriting most of the content on the website.
We also added a large amount of new content aimed at increasing the site's visibility in search results (SEO) and making the website more useful for the target audience of musicians and potential musicians.
Being a
musician himself, David has been able to assist Ed Mascari in selecting the appropriate hardware for capturing live performances.
We make extensive use of flash audio players to present MP3 audio files of Ed's performances, his
student piano recitals and an audio greeting on the
website's home page.
David edits the audio and sees that its presented in a way that enhances the overall business theme of the website.
This is an ongoing project for David and Ed since Mr. Mascari recognizes the benefits of having a growing dynamic website.
Partly a result of the successful expansion of his website, Ed Mascari has recently opened up a piano teaching studio at a
second location
and David and Ed continue to explore new ways to present the business to his current and potential clients.
Charles Binder
Charles Binder is a successful attorney who wanted a way to communicate his interesting and diverse options and knowledge to the world.
David has designed and developed a website for Charles that presents his material in a clear, easy to access format.
The overall look of the site, entitled
Yesterday is Gone,
is designed to remain consistent with the general tenor of the audio material and blog entries.
As part of the development for the website, David implemented a
podcast section
to present The Charles Binder Program, as a weekly podcast.
He created the RSS feed and set up the podcast so that it would be presented to advantage in iTunes and other podcast readers.
The Charles Binder Program is also fully accessible on the website where visitors can listen to, or download, any episode as well as reference a complete description of each podcast episode.
In addition to the podcast, David Summer also set up the website's blog, customizing a WordPress template.
David also wrote the copy for the website, edited the photographs and created all of the website graphics.
This is another ongoing project as David continues to provide audio editing and posting services for the
weekly podcast episodes as well as site updates and technical consulting services.
3Com
David also participated in the development of the
3Com corporate website.
That project included working closely with the 3Com marketing group to develop customer micro sites and email campaign initiatives.
In addition, David consulted with marketing and IT personal involved in planning 3Com's podcast initiative.
David provided technical advise gained from his own experiences in podcasting and
podcast website production.
He also setup an initial podcast RSS feed at 3Com.
